The Prevalence of Pediculosis Capitis at Orphanages in Palembang City, South Sumatera (Indonesia)

<div><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="left"><tbody><tr><td align="left" valign="top"><p><em>Pediculosis capitis is an endemic parasitosis affecting many countries of the world. A total 5318 elementary schoolchildren, aged 8 –16 years, were examined for presence Pediculus capitis. The aim this study was to investigate incidence head lice infestation in Palembang City. This research a quantitative with cross sectional design. conducted at City Orphanage.. took place from July September 2021. population taken orphanage children 16 orphanages 12 sub-districts city as 3.823 peoples. sample 300 people. sampling technique by random sampling. Data collection using questionnaire. analysis chi-square test. results are Prevalence Pediculosis Capitis Orphanages City, South Sumatera (Indonesia) peoples found that prevalence rate urban areas (n=155) highest number sufferers Sako sub-district 18 people (11.6%) and rural (n=145) 2 locations, namely Indralaya 1 36 (24.8%) East Baturaja 40 (27.6%). Factors associated Sumatra (Indonesia), such children’s health care (p-value=0.046), use tools together p-value=0.004), living parents (p-value= ≤ 0.001), past fleas (p-value=0.027), lighting conditions residential space (p-value=0.005) , teacher education schools (p-value=0.007), general items (p-value=≤ room per student (p-value=0.028), hairbrushes day (p-value=0.016). Based on these results, it suggested provide socialization or preventive measure order increase knowledge quality personal hygiene changing attitude each individual, especially children.</em></p><p> </p></td></tr></tbody></table></div><p><strong><em>Keywords: capitis, Hair infestation</em></strong></p>
